A First Experiment on behalf of Communication Sciences in Turkey: Foundation of Anadolu University Faculty of Communication Sciences and its Conversion to Açıköğretim Faculty

Abstract
The experience of communication sciences has a history of approximately 70 years in Turkey. It includes various important points such as its location, the first realized, the turning points it has created, and the accumulation of literature. The Faculty of Communication Sciences at Anadolu University is the first attempt on behalf of the history of communication sciences in Turkey. The Açıköğretim Faculty, which was born from it, both have a valuable place in this historical process in the field. This study focuses on the founding philosophy of the Faculty of Communication Sciences and the Açıköğretim Faculty, which it later turned into, the role assigned to the faculty, its intellectual infrastructure, and educational models in the context of the Ataturkist Personality System, which Prof. Inal Cem Askun theorized.
Özet
Türkiye’de yaklaşık 70 yıllık bir maziye sahip olan iletişim bilimleri tecrübesi, bulunduğu konum, gerçekleştirilen ilkler, oluşturduğu dönüm noktaları ve literatür birikimi gibi çeşitli önemli noktaları bünyesinde barındırmaktadır. Türkiye iletişim bilimleri tarihi adına bir ilk denemesi olan Anadolu Üniversitesi İletişim Bilimleri Fakültesi ve onun bünyesinden doğan Açıköğretim Fakültesi ise alana dair bir ilki gerçekleştirmesi adına bu tarihsel süreç içerisinde önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bu çalışma ise; İletişim Bilimleri Fakültesi ve daha sonra dönüştüğü Açıköğretim Fakültesi’nin kuruluş felsefesini, fakülteye biçilen rolü, fikirsel altyapısnı ve eğitim modellerini İnal Cem Aşkun’un kuramlaştırdığı “Atatürkçü Kişilik Sistemi” etrafında incelemektedir.
