Intrathoracic gossypiboma: A case report

Abstract
A retained surgical swab is a rare but an important complication of intrathoracic surgery. Surgical swab causes granulomatous reaction which causes a large mass image. This is named gossypiboma (textiloma,cottonoid). A case underwent paravertebral abcess drainage for tuberculosis at another center six years ago, was discussed because of a forgotten intrathoracic swab in the light of literature.
Özet
Unutulmuş cerrahi gazlı bez, intratorasik cerrahinin oldukça nadir fakat önemli bir komplikasyonudur. Cerrahi gazlı bez granülomatöz bir reaksiyon başlatarak büyük bir kitle şeklinde görüntü verebilir. Buna gossipiboma (tekstiloma, kotonoid ) adı verilir. Kliniğimizde tüberküloza bağlı paravertebral apse nedeniyle 6 yıl önce başka bir merkezde ameliyat edilen olgu unutulmuş intratorasik gazlı bez nedeniyle literatür ışığında tartışıldı.
