The scale fostering violence against doctors

Abstract

Violence against doctors and medical staff is a new case just involved in the negativities, mostly chronic, of the healthcare field. Doctors are subjected to the violence from the patients, from the relatives of the patients and even from the public off icials from various classes or positions in any geographical area of Turkey. The problem is so serious that 2 doctors were killed since 2005. The results of the case are tried to be evaded both because of the lack of sensibility of the public and the temporal solutions of the Government and the Ministry of Health. In this short article, not the results but the reasons of the violence against doctors are discussed. Because, the act of violence can neither be evaluated as mystic-unknown within the frame of an idealist philosophy nor degraded to the psychological situation of the perpetrators. Material social conditions are the underlying reasons of the violence against doctors. In parallel with the change of the doctors position in the relations of production, their position in the social perception have also changed; and they are started to be perceived as an ordinary worker of a production process by the patients/relatives of the patients. As a result of the loss of professional elements, the reputation of their profession has been damaged in the eye of the public, which has paved the way for the violence against them.

Özet

Sağlık alanında yaşanan ve çoğu kronikleşmiş olumsuzluklara eklenen yeni bir olgu, hekime ve sağlık çalışanlarına yönelik şiddettir. Türkiyede hangi coğrafik mekânda olursa olsun hekimler farklı sınıfsal ve statüsel konumlara sahip hastalardan, hasta yakınlarından veya bizatihi kamu görevlilerinden şiddetle karşılaşabilmektedir. Durum öylesine ciddiyet kazanmıştır ki, 2000lerin ortasından bu yana iki hekim yaşamını yitirmiştir. Gerek kamuoyunda konuyla ilgili hassasiyetin oluşmaması, gerek hükümetin ve Sağlık Bakanlığının geçici çözümleri nedeniyle olgunun sonuçları geçiştirilmeye çalışılmaktadır. Bu kısa yazıda hekime yönelik şiddet olgusunun sonuçlarından ziyade nedenleri tartışılmaya çalışılmıştır. Çünkü şiddet olayları ne idealist felsefe çerçevesinde mistik-kaynağı belirsiz değerlendirilebilir, ne de tüm faillerin şiddet davranışları onların psikolojik durumuna indirgenebilir. Hekime yönelik şiddetin temelinde son derece maddi toplumsal koşullar bulunmaktadır. Hekimlerin üretim ilişkilerindeki konumlarının değişimine paralel, hekimlerin toplumsal algıdaki konumları değişmiş; hasta/hasta yakınları tarafından üretim sürecindeki basit bir işçi olarak görülmeye başlamıştır. Profesyonel meslek unsurlarının yitirilmesi sonucunda mesleki itibar toplum nezdinde zedelenerek hekimlere yönelik saldırıların zeminini oluşturmuştur.
