Imperialism and healthy living - A healthy community

Abstract

A result of the neo-liberal policies of imperialism the health risks taken in production, environmental pollution, GMO food products etc are destroying the ecological system. This has been affecting the human health more than ever. The health services created for public welfare are now being restructured by these neo-liberal policies in line with the benefits of monopolistic corporations. The health system is left to the financial institutions, private health insurance companies, private hospitals and the pharmaceutical and medical technology monopolies to profit rather than the benefit of public welfare. Without removing the domineering control of private companies and the monopolies in the health it does not seem possible having free access to the health services as much as need and when needed.

Özet

Emperyalizm, neoliberal politikalar ile yarattığı; üretim sürecindeki sağlık riskleri, çevre kirliliği, GDO besin ürünleri vb ile tüm ekolojik sistemi tahrip etmekte, insan sağlığını daha önceki dönemlerle kıyaslanmayacak ölçüde bozmaktadır. Yine bu politikalar sonucu başta sağlık hizmetleri olmak üzere toplum yararı gözetilerek oluşturulan tüm kamu hizmetleri tekelci şirketlerin yararları doğrultusunda yeniden biçimlendirilmektedir. Sağlık sistemi, finans sisteminin, özel sağlık sigortalarının, özel hastanelerin, ilaç ve tıbbi teknoloji tekellerinin kar hırslarına, insaflarına bırakılmaktadır. Sağlık alanında tekel durumundaki şirketlere karşı çıkmadan, onların alandaki hakimiyetlerini ortadan kaldırmadan insanların ihtiyaç duydukları anda ulaşmak istedikleri eşit, nitelikli ve ücretsiz bir sağlık hizmetlerine ulaşması olanaklı görünmemektedir.
