“Science and Arts became a school for me”

Abstract

The article gives the story of the journal “Science and Arts” launched amidst the nightmare of September 12 regime as an example of the leftist-socialist premise that socialist struggle against capitalism must continue “under all situations and circumstances”. The process is described with its successive phases including the first emergence of the idea, its initial declaration, difficulties faced or the way, the climate it created, the journal’s contributions to those continuing their struggle and it’s “ending”. It draws attention to the specific features of a collective effort that Ata Soyer had its part.

12 Eylül karabasanında solun, sosyalistlerin “her hal ve şartta” kapitalizme karşı sosyalizm mücadelesinin sürüdürülmesine bir örnek oluşturdukları Bilim ve Sanat Dergis’nin öyküsü anlatılmaktadır. Dergi çıkarma fikrinden, çıkış yazısına, sürdürülüşüne, karşılaşılan zorluklara, oluşturduğu iklime, döneme ve mücadele yürütenlere kattıklarına ve “sonlandırılmasına” kadar süreç aktarılmaktadır. Bu süreçte yer alan Ata Soyer’in de emek verdiği kolektif çabanın özgünlüklerine dikkat çekilmektedir.
