Manifestation of Structural Violence in the Parliament: Omnibus Law Discussions

Abstract

This article refl ects impressions from the process of parliamentary debates on the adoption of the Law Amending Some Legislation and Law Decrees Related to Health and its taking eff ect. Within the framework of the opinion of Turkish Medical Association on this issue, the article addresses infractions taking place in the process and the overall attitude of AKP in relation to health policies. In this context the article discusses the need to support participatory democracy and to enhance the power of people, civil society and elected representatives to act jointly.

Bu yazıda Sağlıkla İlgili Bazı Kanun ve Kanun Hükmünde Kararnamelerde Değişiklik Yapılmasına Dair Kanun Teklifi’nin Genel Kurul’da görüşülmesi ve yürürlüğe girmesi sürecine ilişkin izlenimlere yer verilmiştir. Yazı, Türk Tabipleri Birliği’nin bu konudaki görüşleri çerçevesinde, süreç boyunca yaşanan usulsüzlükler ve AKP’nin sağlık politikaları konusundaki genel tutumunu değerlendirmektedir. Bu temelde katılımcı demokrasinin desteklenmesi ve halk, sivil toplum ve seçilmişlerin ortaklaşa hareket etme gücünün artırılması gerekliliği tartışılmaktadır.
