Economic Crisis/Crises and LGBTIQ+ Individuals

Abstract

The present study set sout to investigate the eff ects of economic crisis on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer+ (LGBTIQ+) individuals. Instead of focusing exclusively on the eff ects on societies and disadvantaged groups of financial crises going on in the world including Turkey, the study addresses worldwide economic and political dynamics together. Simultaneous and Turkey-specific eff ects of crises are summarized while the interaction of crises emerging upon the underlying economic-political system with social dynamics and how crises aff ect associated social policies and societies are addressed chronologically. The LGBTIQ+ visibility and movement that cannot be abstracted from related economic and political processes are located in its place in this chronology and answers are sought to the question what additional problems that crises of capitalism pose for LGBTIQ+ individuals as distinct from their eff ect on other social dynamics.

Özet

Ekonomik krizin lezbiyen, gey, biseksüel, transgender, interseks, queer+ (LGBTİQ+) bireylere etkisini araştırmak amacıyla yola çıkan buçalışma; salt 2008’den günümüze değin dünyada ve Türkiye’de olagelen finansal krizlerin topluma ve dezavantajlı gruplara etkisini kalemealmak yerine, dünyadaki ekonomik-politik dinamikleri birlikte gözden geçirmiştir. Bunların Türkiye’ye eşzamanlı etkileri/Türkiye’ye özgüözellikleri özetlenmeye çalışılmış; arka plandaki ekonomik-politik sistemin üzerinde gelişen krizlerin, toplumsal dinamiklerle etkileşimi,kendi bağlamındaki sosyal politikaları ve toplumu nasıl etkilediği kronolojisi içinde ele alınmıştır. Söz konusu ekonomik politik süreçlerdenayrı incelenemeyecek olan LGBTİQ+ görünürlüğü ve hareketi, bu kronolojideki yerine oturtulmuş; ardından kapitalizmin krizlerinintoplumdaki diğer dinamiklere etkisinden farklı olarak LGBTİQ+ bireylere özgü ne tür ek sorunlar yarattığına yanıt aranmıştır.
