University Class Struggle and Science

Abstract

Universities can only be understood by addressing them in a wider social formation and at the intersection of contradictory social forces. Modern universities, which have been formed in the struggle against the theological and scholastic mentality of feudalism since the 17th century, have also been shaped through the development process and the structural crises of capitalism. The study based on this perspective, brief y deals with the history of universities under the capitalism and discusses the development of universities in Turkey including the problem of scientific freedom

Üniversiteler ancak daha geniş bir toplumsal formasyonun içinde ve çelişik toplumsal güçlerin kesişme alanında ele alınarak anlaşılabilir. 17.yüzyıldan itibaren feodalizmin teolojik ve skolastik zihniyetine karşı mücadele içinde oluşan modern üniversiteler de kapitalizmin gelişmeseyri ve yapısal krizlerine bağlı olarak şekillenmiştir. Çalışma, bu yaklaşımla, hem kapitalizmde üniversitelerin tarihini kısaca ele almakta hemde Türkiye’de üniversitenin gelişimini ve bilimsel özgürlük sorununu tartışmaktadır
