Landscaping to reduce traffic noise problem in cities: Ankara case

Abstract
Cities are suffering under the effects of unexpected population growth due to immigration to netropolitan areas. Thus, urban environments are heavily loaded so that the existing infrastructure becomes nsufficient and new services are needed. Besides the technological developments and changes in the community, urban environments are affected negatively due to transporation and traffic problems. On one land, highways built to shorten the travel period and the bypasses to speed transportation time and capacity wrings comfort in service functions, on the other hand, creates numerous negative effects like functional, /isual and auditory damages in urban environments. In this article, noise, sources of noise and other related erminology were identified then, negative effects of noise in urban areas and the precautions that has to be aken were determined. At the final stage, the role of plant material in reducing the effects of noise was iiscussed and the plantation design for an effective noise control and plant species that could be used to Geminate or reduce noise for Ankara city were proposed.
Özet
Kentsel alanlara yoğun göçler ve buna bağlı nüfus artışı ile kentler aşırı yüklenmekte, mevcut altyapı yetersiz kalırken, yeni donanım ve servisler gerektirmektedir. Bunun yanında sosyo-ekonomik değişim ve teknolojik gelişmeler sonucu kentsel çevrelerde ortaya çıkan bozulmaların yanında ulaşım ve trafik altyapı ve çözümünde de birçok sorun ortaya çıkmaktadır. Büyük kentlerde ulaşım hız ve kapasitesini artırmak amacı ile çevre yolları, kentler arası ulaşım süresini azaltan otoyollar servis fonksiyonlarında kolaylık getirmesinin yanında olumsuz etkiler de yaratmakta; kentsel alanlarda görsel ve işitsel kirliliğe neden olmaktadır. Bu makalede, gürültü ve kaynakları ile ilgili tanımlar yapılmış, gürültünün olumsuz etkileri irdelenerek gürültüye karşı alınabilecek önlemlere yer verilmiştir. Trafik gürültüsünün azaltılmasında bitkisel materyalin rolü ve işlevi tartışılarak Ankara kenti özelinde tasarım yaklaşımları ve kullanılabilecek türlere ilişkin Sneriler geliştirilmiştir.
