Abstract
The term Göstergebilim is used in Turkish for both Semiology (Fr. Semiologie) and Semiotics (Fr. Semiotique). As a concept, are semiology and semiotics different? We believe that these concepts are not synonymous and they only can be quasi-synonymous. In this article, we will discuss these concepts and ideas related to them.

Türkçede Göstergebilim diye tek sözcükle karşılanan kavram Fransızca ve İngilizcede iki sözcükle karşılanmaktadır: Semiyoloji ve Semiyotik (Fr. Sémiologie; Sémiotique / İng. Semiology; Semiotics). Semiyoloji ve Semiyotik aynı şeyler midir, farklı şeyler mi? Biz bu kavramların eş anlamlı değil; olsa olsa yakın anlamlı olabileceklerini düşünüyoruz. Bu makalede bu kavramlar ve bu kavramlara ilişkin görüşler irdelenecektir.
