ON THE HISTORY OF THE RED CROSS AND THE EMBLEMS ALIKE

Abstract

The curious case of emblems has always been a controversy amongst the interested parties, particullary within the International Committee of the Red Cross. A need for protection of the medical personnel, their transport, installations etc. in the field required a creation of a universal emblem respected by all. First, the Red Cross, then the Red Crescent and Red Lion and Sun had been created in this respect. The last one is the Red Crystal. Hence, there are four official emblems, one of which, as it appears, has been abandoned. In this short essay, the history of the emblems and their come to being will briefly be analyzed.

Amblemler konusu her zaman ilgili taraflar arasında özellikle de Uluslararası Kızılhaç Komitesi içinde tartışma konusu olmuştur. Muharebe alanındaki tıbbî personel, onların nakliye araçları, tesisleri vs. korunma ihtiyacı herkes tarafından saygı gösterilecek evrensel bir amblemin yaratılmasını gerekli kılmıştır. İlk olarak, Kızılhaç, sonrasında Kızılay ve Kızıl Aslan ve Güneş bu amaçla yaratılmıştır. Sonuncusu ise Kızıl Kristaldir. Böylelikle, anlaşıldığı üzere biri terk edilmiş olan dört resmî amblem vardır. Bu kısa çalışmada, bu amblemlerin tarihçeleri ve nasıl ortaya çıktıkları kısaca irdelenecektir.
