An Evaluation on Osman Necâti from Eskişehir and His Work Named Tafsîr an-Najât

Eskişehirli Osman Necâti ve Tefsîru’n-Necât Adlı Eseri Üzerine Bir Değerlendirme

Abstract

The effort to understand and interpret the message sent to humanity by Allah (cc) in the Qur'an started with the period of the Prophet (PBUH) and lasted for centuries. In this process, tafsir has become a science and various tafsir books have been written One of these tafsir works is Tafsîr an-Najât belonging to Osman Necâti living in Eskişehir in the 19th century (d. 1293/1876). This work in question has been written in Ottoman Turkish and includes the interpretation of the suras from an-Naba’ to al-Nâs which constitute the 30th chapter of the Qur'an. Tafsîr an-Najât is a classical work that confirms the traditional knowledge about tafsir, the riwâya and dirâya methods are handled together, its mystical aspect is prominent and the verses are explained in a comprehensible manner. Osman Necâti also made explanations related to fiqh and kalâm in the tafsir of the verses. In his works, he has benefited from the works of the mufassirs such as Muqâtil b. Suleyman (d. 150/767), Fakhr al-Dîn al-Râzî (d. 606/1210), Abussuûd (d. 982/1574), al-Suyûtî (d. 911/1505). In this study, Osman Necâti's life, his scholarly personality, his works, his tafsir sources, his his tafsir methodology from the aspects of riwâya and dirâya and his interpretations about the mystical terms are examined.

Özet

Allah‘ın (c.c.) Kur’an’da insanlığa göndermiş olduğu mesajı anlama ve yorumlama çabası Hz. Peygamber(s.a.s.) dönemiyle başlamış ve asırlarca sürdürülmüştür. Bu süreçte tefsir bir ilim haline gelmiş ve çeşitli tefsirkitapları telif edilmiştir. Bu tefsirlerden biri de 19. yy’da yaşamış Eskişehirli Osman Necâti’ye ait olan(ö.1293/1876) Tefsîru’n-Necât adlı eserdir. Söz konusu bu eser, Osmanlı Türkçesi ile telif edilmiş olup Kur’anıKerim’in 30. cüzü olan Nebe’-Nas arasındaki sûrelerin yorumunu kapsamaktadır. Tefsîru’n-Necât, tefsirleilgili bilinen geleneksel bilgileri teyit eden, rivâyet ve dirâyet metodunun birlikte işlendiği, tasavvufî yönü öneçıkan, âyetlerin anlaşılır bir üslupla açıklamalarının yapıldığı klasik bir eser niteliğindedir. Osman Necâti,âyetlerin tefsirinde fıkhî ve kelâmî izahlara da yer vermiştir. Eserinde Mukātil b. Süleymân (ö. 150/767),Fahreddin er-Râzî (ö. 606/1210), İmam Süyûtî (ö. 911/1505), Ebüssuûd Efendi (ö. 982/1574) gibi müfessirlerineserlerinden kaynak olarak yararlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada, Osman Necâti’nin hayatı, ilmî şahsiyeti,eserleri, tefsirinin kaynakları, rivâyet ve dirâyet yönden tefsirindeki metodu ve tasavvufî terimlerle ilgili ortayakoyduğu yorumları incelenmiştir.
