An Investigation on the Attribution of the Exegetical Work Entitled Durj al-Durar to ‛Abd al-Qāhir al-Jurjānī

Abdülkâhir el-Cürcânî’ye Nispet Edilen Dürcü’d-Dürer İsimli Tefsirin Aidiyetine Dair Bir İnceleme

Abstract

‛Abd al-Qāhir al-Jurjānī (d. 471/1078), who represents an important link in the Islamic scholarly tradition, was distinguished in the areas of rhetoric (balāghah) and eloquence (faṣāḥah), and as a linguist wrote numerous works in these respective fields. Sources also mention Jurjānī among the important names in the field of Quranic exegesis (tafsīr), and that he wrote works in connection to this field. In this context, the primary objective of this study is to investigate and examine the attribution of the exegetical work entitled Durj al-durar to Jurjānī as is found in many a source including a separate, more recently printed edition. In line with this objective, the substance, style and content of the edition ascribed to Jurjānī of the exegetical work Durj al-durar has been analyzed. In this regard, the study is comprised of four headings, the first of which has been assigned to Durj al-durar's technical details, the second heading to the evidences on the exegetical work belonging to Jurjānī, the third heading on evidences of it not belonging to him, and as for the fourth heading is where all of these evidences are analyzed. Accordingly, in spite of there being some evidence that the exegetical work entitled Durj al-durar belongs to Jurjānī, we have come to the conclusion that the evidence of it not belonging to him is rather more substantial.

İslâm ilim geleneğinin önemli halkalarından birisini oluşturan Abdülkâhir el-Cürcânî (ö. 471/1078) dilci kimliğiyle belâgat ve fesâhat alanında temeyyüz etmiş ve bu alanlara dair çok sayıda eser kaleme almıştır. Kaynaklar Cürcânî’nin tefsir sahasında da önemli bir isim olduğunu ve bu alana dair eserler kaleme aldığını zikretmiştir. Bu bağlamda yapacağımız çalışmanın temel amacı birtakım kaynaklarda Cürcânî’ye nispet edilen ve günümüzde de iki ayrı baskısı yapılan Dürcü’d-dürer isimli tefsirin kendisine aidiyetini incelemek ve araştırmaktır. Bu amaca dönük olarak Cürcânî’ye nispetle baskısı yapılan Dürcü’d-dürer isimli tefsirin içeriği, üslup ve muhteva olarak incelenmiştir. Bu bağlamda çalışma dört başlıktan oluşturulmuş, birinci başlıkta Dürcü’d-dürer isimli tefsir hakkında teknik bilgiye, ikinci başlıkta tefsirin Cürcânî’ye ait olduğuna dair delillere, üçüncü başlıkta ait olmadığına dair delillere, dördüncü başlıkta ise, bu delillerin değerlendirilmesine yer verilmiştir. Buna göre Dürcü’d-dürer isimli tefsirin Cürcânî’ye ait olduğuna dair birtakım deliller olsa da ait olmadığına dair delillerin daha güçlü olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
