Abstract
In this paper a diakoptical technique is presented for deriving the bus impedance matrix of a large scale Faculty of Electrical and Electronics power system. Some recent approach for the formulation of power system have been considered from the direction of finding a more convenient way to analyze large size power systems. A literature survey on the analysis of large scale power systems has shown that some advantages be gained by the use of the concept of multi-terminal components. This important concept of Network Theory, have not been fully exploited in the analysis of large scale power systems. For this reason, the work in this paper is directed mainly on the use of multi terminal components as the fundamental elements in the analysis of large scale power systems. This approach is quite general and can also be applied to the network containing nonsymmetrically mutual coupled components. The coefficient matrix (bus impedance matrix) of the system is obtained in the form of a block-diagonal band matrix. The method is applicable to the solution of both the three-phase and single-phase balanced or unbalanced networks. For the sake of simplicity of the presentation of the method, however, the discussion is restricted to the single-phase systems without the coupled components.
