Comperative Analysis of the Farmer Training Projects to Improve Animal Husbandry Implemented in Erzurum

Erzurum İlinde Uygulanan Hayvancılığa Yönelik Çiftçi Eğitimi Projelerinin Karşılaştırmalı Analizi

Abstract

This study has been carried out to determine the effectiveness of the farmer training activities carried out within the framework of Erzurum Cattle Improvement Project (ECIP) and Erzurum Sustainable Rural Development Project (ESRDP) which were implemented in a large area and had a widespread effect and constituted an example by the methods they used and to put forward the principles to be taken into consideration in the future in similar projects in the area by making a comperative analysis. In this study, data was obtained mainly from 278 questionnaires of which 212 were done with the farmers, 46 with the technical staff and 20 with the teaching staff. On the other hand, secondary data was gathered from literature and the publications of the public as well as private institutions such as Ministry of Agriculture and Institute of Statistics. According to the results of descriptions and analysis, it was determined that ECIP has been superior to and more effective than ESRDP in many ways. According to the logistic regression analysis, only ECIP has brought about a behavioral change on the part of the farmers regarding the use of artificial insemination and using colostrum for the feeding of the newly born calves. On the other hand only ESRDPhas been effective with regard to the use of automatic water taps. Both projects have been effective in the areas of the ventilation of the animal shelters in winter, use of seed planters fort he cultivation of fodder crops and making use of available support programs.

Özet

Bu çalısmada, Erzurum'da genis bir alanda uygulandıgından yaygın bir etkisi olan ve uyguladıkları yöntemlerle tarımsal yayımda yeni örnekler olusturan Erzurum Ili Büyükbas Hayvan Islahı Projesi (EBHIP) ve Sürdürülebilir Kırsal Kalkınma Projesi (SKKP) kapsamında yapılan çiftçi egitimi çalısmalarının etkinliklerini belirlemek ve karsılastırmalı analizini yaparak yerel çiftçi egitimi programlarında dikkate alınması gereken hususları belirlemek amacı ile yapılmıstır. Çiftçiler ile yapılan 212 adet, teknik elemanlar ile yapılan 46 adet ve ögretim görevlileri ile yapılan 20 adet olmak üzere toplam 278 adet anket verileri kullanılmıstır. Çalısmada yapılan tanımlama analiz sonuçlarına göre birçok konuda EBHIP'nin SKKP'nden daha üstün ve etkin oldugu belirlenmistir. Lojistik regresyon sonuçlarına göre ise suni tohumlama yaptırma ve yeni dogan buzagıya agız sütü verilmesi konusunda sadece EBHIP çiftçi egitim çalısması çiftçilerde davranıs degisikligi meydana getirmistir. Ahırlarda otomatik suluk bulundurma konusunda ise sadece SKKP çiftçi egitim çalısması çiftçilerde davranıs degisikligi meydana getirmistir. Kısın ahırların havalandırması, yem bitkisi ekerken mibzer kullanılması ve desteklerden faydalanılması konularında ise iki proje kapsamında yapılan çiftçi egitim çalısmasının olumlu etkisinin oldugu belirlenmistir.
