AN ASSESSMENT AND RECOMMENDATIONS ON PALYNOLOGY AND POLLEN TERMS USED IN TURKEY

TÜRKİYE’DE KULLANILMAKTA OLAN PALİNOLOJİ VE POLEN TERİMLERİ ÜZERİNE BİR DEĞERLENDİRME VE ÖNERİLER

Abstract

Studies about pollen in our country started in the late 1960s and continued increasingly until today. When these studies are examined it is seen that there are many differences regarding the pollen terminology used. Some term names were used in Latin and some in English, no Turkish names were given for the terms. For this purpose, 54 terms related to the palynology and pollen morphology were selected, and suggestions related to the Turkish equivalents of these terms were presented and explained in figures. With the evaluations made in this context, the terms such as diad, tetrad, spheroidal, prolate, oblate can be given quite plain and complete Turkish equivalents. However, it has been concluded that it is necessary to discuss the Turkish equivalents of some terms. It is thought that it would be beneficial to discuss the Turkish equivalent suggested in terms such as distal and intectate. With this study, a step has been taken and with the new studies and evaluations, the terms of Palynology and pollen morphology in our country will be settled.

Özet

Ülkemizde polenle ilgili çalışmalar 1960’lı yılların sonlarında başlamış ve günümüze kadar artarak devametmiştir. Bu çalışmalar incelendiğinde kullanılan polen terminolojisiyle ilgili pek çok farklılıklar olduğu görülmüştür.Bazı terim isimleri Latince bazıları İngilizce kullanılmış, terimlere Türkçe isimler verilmemiştir. Bu amaçla polen bilimive polen morfolojisine ilişkin 54 terim seçilmiş, bu terimlerin Türkçe karşılıklarına ilişkin öneriler sunularak şekillerleaçıklanmıştır. Bu kapsamda yapılan değerlendirmelerle, diyad, tetrad, sferoidal, prolat, oblat gibi terimlerin oldukça yalınve tam olarak Türkçe karşılıkları verilebilmiştir. Buna karşın bazı terimlerin Türkçe karşılıklarının tartışılmasının gerekliolduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Dış taraf (distal), polen yüzeyi olmayan (intectate) gibi terimlerde önerilen Türkçekarşılığın tartışılmasının yararlı olacağı düşünülmektedir. Bu çalışma ile bir adım atılmış olup yeni çalışma vedeğerlendirmelerle ülkemizdeki Palinoloji bilim alanı ve polen morfolojisi ile ilgili terimlerin karşılıkları yerleşmişolacaktır.
