Reliability and Validity Study of the Turkish Form of the Leisure Satisfaction Scale

Boş Zaman Tatmin Ölçeğinin Türkçe Formunun Güvenirlik ve Geçerlilik Çalışması

Abstract

The aim of the study is to adapt the Leisure Satisfaction Scale developed by Beard and Raghep (1980) into Turkish and to measure its reliability and validity in the research group consisting of university students. The scale was translated from English to Turkish by three linguist lecturers. Afterwards, it was evaluated from the Turkish literature framework by two expert faculty members. The sample group consists of 412 people studying at universities in Ankara. 440 questionnaires were distributed to the participants and 411 of them were evaluated. In the study, the Leisure Satisfaction Scale developed by Beard and Raghep (1980) was used as a data collection tool in its short form consisting of 24 questions and 6 sub-dimensions. The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.895. The internal consistency coefficients for the sub-dimensions ranged from .69 to .89. The 4th item in the psychological dimension and the 22nd item in the aesthetic dimension were not included in the analysis. According to these results, it can be said that the scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool.

Özet

Çalışmanın amacı, Beard ve Raghep (1980) tarafından geliştirilen Boş Zaman Tatmini Ölçeği’nin Türkçeye uyarlanması ve üniversite öğrencilerinden oluşan araştırma grubunda güvenirlik ve geçerliliğinin ölçülmesidir. Ölçeği İngilizce’den Türkçeye çevirisi dil bilimci üç öğretim üyesi tarafından yapılmıştır. Daha sonra alanda uzman iki öğretim üyesi tarafından Türkçe literatür çerçevesinden değerlendirilmiştir. Örneklem grubunu Ankara’daki üniversitelerde eğitim-öğretim gören 412 kişi oluşturmaktadır. Katılımcılara 440 anket dağıtılmış olup bunlarda 411 tanesi değerlendirmeye alınmıştır. Araştırmada Beard ve Raghep(1980) tarafında geliştirilen Boş Zaman Tatmin Ölçeği’nin 24 soru ve 6 alt boyuttan oluşan kısa formu veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. Ölçeğin Cronbach Alpha güvenirlik katsayısı 0,895 olarak bulunmuştur. Alt boyutlar için ise iç tutarlık katsayıları .69-.89 arasında değişmektedir. Psikolojik boyuttaki 4. madde ile estetik boyutta yer alan 22.madde analize dâhil edilmemiştir. Bu sonuçlara göre ölçeğin geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğu söylenebilir.
