Abstract
Many authors have thought that carotid artery invasion was one of the inoperability criteria for the surgical treatment of the head and neck tumors. Segmentary resection and reconstruction of the carotid artery is the best therapeutic modality for such lesions that reduce the five-year survival rate to less than 10%. We present a sixty-five year old man who had recurrent larynx epidermoid carcinoma with carotid artery invasion. The patient underwent planned right radical neck dissection, segmentary carotid artery resection and reconstruction with polytetrafluoroethylene. There was no norological deficit and wound infection in the postoperative period.
