Postoperative results of open cavity tympanomastoidectomy and reconstruction of ossiculary chain in chronic otitis media surgery

Abstract
Between years 1991-1995 the operation of open cavity tympanomastoidectomy and reconstruction of ossicu-lary chain was carried out on on 44 cases of our clinic out of these 44 cases 23 cases were followed up later on for postope¬rative recurrences and to detect any improvement in hearing postoperative recurrence was detected in 13% of the cases. Even though ossicular chain reconstruction was carried out on all the cases the differences between the preoperative odiog-ram findings were not found to be significant.
Özet
1991-1995 yıllan arasında kliniğimizde açık kavite timpanomastoidektomi ve kemik zincir rekonstrüksiyonu yapılan 23 olgu postoperatif rekürens ve işitme yönünden değerlendirilmiştir. Olguların %13'ünde postoperatif dönemde hastalığın tekrar ettiği tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca preoperatif ve postoperatif odyolojik değerlendirme sonuçları karşılaştırılmış ve yapı¬lan kemikçik zincir rekonstrüksiyonuna rağmen postoperatif işitme düzeyinden preoperatif işitme düzeyine göre anlamlı bir iyileşme olmadığı gözlenmiştir.
