Histopathologic changes in the guinea pig middle ear fungal infections

Abstract
Knowledge about histopathologic features of the middle ear mucosa due to fungal infections are limited. For this purpose, Candida albicans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae species were inoculated into the guinea pig middle ear. Clini¬cal and histopathological changes with culture results were recorded at days 2, 7, 14,21 and 28. Candida albicans induced more permanent and serious changes either clinically or histopathologically than Saccharomyces cerevisiea did.

Fungal engeksiyonların yol açtığı orta kulak mukozasındaki histopatolojik değişiklikler hakkındaki bilgilerimiz ye¬terli değildir. Bu amaçla Candida albicans ve Saccharomyces cerevisiae suçları kobay orta kulağına inoküle edilmiştir. 2., 7., 14., 21. ve 28. günlerde klinik ve histopatolojik değişiklikler ve kültür sonuçları belirlenmiştir. Candida albicans, hem ki-linikhem de histopatolojik olarak Saccharomyces cerevisiae'ye göre daha kalıcı ve ciddi değişiklikler oluşturmuştur.
