The accuracy of preoperative T staging of the laryngeal carcinoma by computed tomography

Abstract
İn this study, the accuracy of preoperative T staging by computed tomography (CT) and clinical evaluation is compared to the postoperative pathologic staging of laryngeal cancer. Thirty-two patients received CT scan of the larynx preoperatively and subsequantly underwent total or partial laryngectomy. The accuracy of preoperative T staging by clinical and CT evaulation was %62.5 and 65.6 respectively. CT is superior to laryngoscopy in evaluation large neoplasms. On the other hand, laryngoscopy is better than CT in the evaluation of smaller lesions.
Özet
Bu çalışmada, larenks kanserlerinde preoperatif bilgisayarlı tomografi (BT) ve klinik T evreleme doğruluğu postope-ratif patolojik evreleme ile karşılaştırıldı. Total veya parsiyel larenjektomi yapılanjjtuziki hastaya preoperatif BT inceleme¬si yapıldı. Klinik muayene ile yapılan T evrelendirme doğruluğu %62.5, BT ile yapılan T evrelendirme doğruluğu ise %65.6 bulundu BT'nin büyük tümörlerin değerlendirilmesinde larengoskopiâen daha üstün olduğu, üçük lezyonların değerlendiril¬mesinde ise larengoskopi ile yapılan değerlendirmenin BT'den daha doğru sonuç verdiği gözlendi.
