Abstract
Although nasal cavity forms one of the essential sections of the respiratory tract, it was not given so much importance in the physiological studies about pulmonary functions of the human body. In this study 31 patients who were operated on for their obstructions in the upper respiratory tract preoperative and postoperative pulmonary functions were measured using flow volume spirometry. Statistically important recovery was seen when the preoperative and postoperative and posperative spirometric findings were compared. These finding can be interpreted to show the upper respiratory tract obstruction to affect pulmonary, and to show that spirometry can be used to given an idea about the upper respiratory tract obstructions and their treatments.
