Nd: Yag laser turbinectomy for hypertrophy of the inferior turbinate

Abstract
Nasal obstruction due to turbinate hypertrophy has usually been treated by surgical methods. Nd: YAG laser has recently been applied to inferior turbinates and has been found successful to reduce the size of turbinateş. In this study, 15 patients with nasal obstruction were operated on by Nd: YAG laser and the results were evaluated by visual analog scale, endoscopy and rhinomanometry methods. Symptomatic improvement has been detected in 12 (80%) patients, indicating that by Nd: YAG laser is very effective in turbinate size reduction.
Özet
Medikal tedaviye rağmen sonuç alınamayan konka hipertrofisine bağlı nazal obstrüksiyonun tedavisinde, cerrahi tedavi metodları uygulanmaktadır. Alt konka hipertrofilerinin tedavisi amacıyla yapılan parsiyel türbinektomide laser kullanınanın tedavide basarı oranını artırdığı ve diğer cerrahi yöntemlere oranla komplikasyonları azalttığı bildirilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, alt konka hipertrofisine bağlı nazal obstrüksiyonu olan 15 hastaya, Nd: YAG (Neodymium: yttrium aliminium gamet) laserle türbinektomi uygulanıp, sonuçlar, görsel analog skala, endoskopik görüntü ve rinomanometri ile değerlendirilmiş ve Nd: YAG laserin konka cerrahisindeki etkinliği araştırılmıştır.
