Abstract
The purpose of this study is to discuss the problem of meaning in history, which is one of the most important problems in philosophy of history, in the context of progressive history models. In line with this purpose, the history models of Kant who devises progress in history in accordance with the plan of nature, Hegel who considers that progress and freedom are identical, Condorcet who accepts historical process as a picture that presents perfection phases of human beings and that reflects continuous progress and Comte who expresses progress as the intellectual evolution of human beings will be reviewed one by one. In this way, it was shown on which basis the problem of meaning in history can be discussed in the context of progressive concepts.
