Abstract
The article investigates the originality and characteristics of the scientific methodology of Thales and the Milesian School, and searches for their relations with some concrete samples taken from Egypt and Mesopotamia mathematics. It also asserts from a “meta-methodological” standpoint that theory of science is historically divided in to four moments, and that concerning the Aristotelian scientific revolution, all of the civilisations before Aristotle had a similar methodology. Besides, “certainty and completeness of truth value” and “analytical thinking” as the matters of the era, which has been experienced under the tension of the category of “universality” are even determined as overhistorical problems originated from the nature of human intelligence.
Özet
Makale Thales'in ve Milet Okulu'nun bilim metodolojisinin özgünlüğünü ve karakteristik özelliklerini sorgulamakta, Mısır ve özellikle Mezopotamya matematiğinden alınan somut örneklerle ilişkilendirmektedir. Meta-metodolojik bir bakış açısından, bilim teorisinin tarihsel olarak dört evreye ayrıldığını ve Aristoteles'in bilimsel devrimi karşısında, kendinden önceki bütün uygarlıkların benzer bir metodolojiye sahip olduğunu ileri sürmektedir. Bütünlük kategorisinin gerilimi altında yaşanan, dönemin "doğruluk değerinin tamlığı, kesinliği" ve "analitik düşünme" konuları insan zekâsının doğasından kaynaklanan tarih-üstü problemler olarak tespit edilmektedir
