THE EXAMPLE OF ÎSÂGÛCÎ IN THE TRADITION OF OTTOMAN LOGIC: KISM-I TASAVVURÂT MIN HÜLÂSATI’L-MÎZÂN

OSMANLI MANTIK GELENEĞİNDE ÎSÂGÛCÎ ÖRNEĞİ: KISM-I TASAVVURÂT MİN HÜLÂSATİ’L-MÎZÂN

Abstract

The transmission of “Eisagōgḗ” to the Islamic world following the translation movements from the time of Abbasids have paved the way for a strong tradition. Following Isagoge, which was written as an introduction to “Categories”, many introductory books have been written. However, objectives of such boks have changed through time. The tradition of composing Îsâgûcî in Ottoman madrasas continued until its final days. In this context, the central objective of this study is to analyze a version of Îsâgûcî, called “Kısm-ı Tasavvurât min Hülâsati’l- Mîzân” (1891). We will present its content, and contribute to the studies related to the understanding the logic in 19th Century Ottoman Empire.

Özet

Eisagoge’nin tercüme hareketleriyle birlikte İslâm dünyasına dahil olması güçlübir geleneğin ortaya çıkmasına da öncülük etmiştir. Kategoriler’e giriş için kalemealınan bu eserden sonra gayeleri değişmekle birlikte çok sayıda giriş kitabıtelif edilmiştir. Îsâgûcî yazma geleneği Osmanlı medreselerinde de son dönemlerekadar varlığını sürdürmüştür. Bu minvalde çalışmanın amacı Osmanlı mantıkgeleneği içerisinde kaleme alınan Kısm-ı Tasavvurât min Hülâsati’l-Mîzân(1891) isimli îsâgûcî’yi muhteva itibariyle incelemek böylece dönemin mantıkanlayışıyla ilgili çalışmalara katkı sunmaktır.
