Abstract
Ectopic lingual thyroid is a rare condition that occurs due to failure of the embryogenic thyroid tissue to migrate to its anterior cervical location. It may be associated with hemorrhage, dysphagia, obstruction, and articulation problems because of its mass effect and hypothyroidism because of glandular dysfunction. We present two female patients with lingual thyroid gland, one of whom (age 27 years) had complaints of-dysphagia, foreign body sensation in the throat, and articulation problems. The other patient (age 17 years) had been receiving hormone therapy since infancy. Both patients had ectopic lingual thyroid with multinodular goiter. In case with hypothyroidism hormonal replacement therapy was maintained, while the other patient underwent a transposition operation for local symptoms.
Özet
Ektopik lingual tiroit embriyögenezisin erken döneminde tiroit bezinin anterior servikal alana göçündeki başarısızlık nedeniyle ortaya çıkan nadir bir durumdur. Yer kaplayıcı etkisi nedeniyle disfaji, obstrüksiyon, konuşma bozukluğu ve kanama, fonksiyon yitimine bağlı da hipotroidizme yol açabilir. Bu yazıda lingual tiroit tanısı konan iki kadın hasta sunuldu. Birinci olguda (27 yaş) disfaji, konuşma bozukluğu ve boğazda yabancı cisim hissi gibi lokal semptomlar vardı. Diğeri ise (17 yaş) hipotiroidizm nedeniyle bebekliğinden beri hormon tedavisi görmekteydi. Her iki olguda da multinodüler paternde ektopik tiroit doku saptandı. Hipotiroidili olguda hormon replasman tedavisi sürdürüldü. Lokal semptomları nedeniyle diğer olguya transpozisyon ameliyatı uygulandı.
