Abstract
Lymphangioma is a benign, slowly-growing lesion that is thought to develop as a result of a congenital malformation of the lymphatic system. Its occurrence in the parotid gland is very rare. We present a 17-year-old male patient with a cystic lymphangioma in the left parotid gland. A two fold increase was noted in the size of the cyst following fineneedle aspiration biopsy, without there being signs of an infection or hemorrhage. The patient underwent superficial parotidectomy. The pathologic diagnosis was reported as cystic lymphangioma. Enlargement of the cyst was attributed to the trauma induced by fine-needle aspiration biopsy and to the eventual increase in secretion from secretory epithelial cells lining the cyst. No recurrences were detected during a followup period of 12 months.
Özet
Lenfanjiyomlar, oluşum nedeni tam olarak bilinmeyen, lenfatik damarlardan gelişen, yavaş büyüyen, benign konjenital lezyonlardır. Parotiste görülmeleri nadirdir. Bu yazıda, sol parotiste kistik lenfanjiyom saptanan on yedi yaşındaki erkek hasta sunuldu. İnce iğne aspirasyon biyopsisinden sonra, enfeksiyon ve hemoraji bulguları olmaksızın, kitlenin boyutlarında yaklaşık iki kat büyüme oldu. Hastaya yüzeyel parotidektomi yapıldı. Patolojik inceleme sonucu kistik lenfanjiyom olarak bildirildi. Kist büyüklüğündeki artışın, ince iğne aspirasyon biyopsisinin meydana getirdiği travmaya bağlı olarak, lenfanjiyomu döşeyen sekretuvar epiteldeki sekresyon artışına bağlı olabileceği düşünüldü. Hastanın 12 aylık izlemi sırasında herhangi bir nüks görülmedi.
