Abstract
Endometriosis is not uncommon for gynecologists, general surgeons, and internists who encounter pelvic or extrapelvic involvement as abdominal, thoracic, and urinary system masses; however, the rarity of the lesion in the head and neck region may preclude an otolaryngologist from considering this pathology. A twenty-seven-year old woman presented with two masses in her lip and on the tongue, respectively. She experienced pain and noted that enlargement of the masses showed a cyclic pattern, being synchronized with her menses. After surgical excision under local anesthesia, histopathologic diagnosis was made as endometriosis.
Özet
Jinekologlar, dahiliye uzmanları ile genel cerrahların karşısına abdominal, torasik ve üriner sistem kitleleri olarak çıkan ekstrapelvik endometriozis nadir bir durum değildir. Bununla birlikte, lezyonun baş-boyun bölgesinde görülmesinin son derece nadir olması, otolarengologların bu patolojiyi akla getirmelerini zorlaştırabilir. Dudağında ve dilinde kitleleri olan 27 yaşında bir kadın hasta, ağrı ve menstrüel kanama ile birlikte büyüme gösteren lezyonlar nedeniyle başvurdu. Lokal anestezi altında yapılan eksizyon sonrasındaki histopatolojik incelemede lezyonların endometriozis olduğu anlaşıldı.
