Abstract

Objectives: The aim of the study was to evaluate the advantages of an algorithm that may help in the surgical treatment of saddle nose deformity, the solution of which may sometimes be very difficult. Patients and Methods: Seventeen patients who underwent septorhinoplasty for saddle nose deformity were evaluated. There were 11 men and six women, with ages ranging from 21 to 51 years (mean age 27.6 years). The patients were divided into five groups with regard to the severity of the deformity and surgical treatment was carried out accordingly. Evaluation included both cosmetic and functional issues. The results were assessed mainly using the subjective criteria. The patients were followed-up for a duration ranging between six months and 2.5 years. Results: No complications occurred during the early postoperative period. Evaluations performed by the patients at the end of postoperative six months and beyond a year showed improvement in the deformity. Conclusion: Increased patient satisfaction and successful outcome depend on classification of saddle nose deformity on the basis of severity and an appropriate treatment under an algorithmic discipline.
