The evaluation of seropositivity screening tests in donors in the blood center of Kahramanmaras State Hospital

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the results of HBsAg, anti-HCV, anti-HIV and syphilis tests of blood donors applying to the Blood Center of Kahramanmaraş State Hospital between January 1999 to December 2001. Materiyals and Methods: The tests of seropositivity for HBsAg, anti-HCV and anti-HIV were performed by ELISA and VDRL by latex agglutination methods in 13379 blood donors were investigated retrospectively. Results: In 1999; among the 4134 serum samples seropositivity for HBsAg was 1.76% and for anti-HCV 0.50% while there was no seropositivity for anti-HIV and VDRL. In 2000; among the 4434 serum samples seropositivity for HBsAg was 1.71% and for anti-HCV 0.24% while there was no seropositivity for anti-HIV and VDRL. In 2001 among 4811 serum samples seropositivity for HBsAg, anti-HCV and VDRL were 1.74%, 0.24% and 0.02% respectively and no anti-HIV positivity was detected. Conclusions: In terms of HBsAg and anti-HCV seropositivity rates, there were statistically no significant differences between years.

Amaç: Bu çalışmada Kahramanmaraş Devlet Hastanesi Kan Merkezine Ocak 1999-Aralık 2001 yılları arasında başvuran donörlerin HBsAg, anti-HCV, anti-HIV ve sifiliz test sonuçlarının araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: 13379 donörde ELISA yöntemi ile HBsAg, anti-HCV, anti-HIV ve latex aglutinasyon yöntemi ile VDRL seropozitifliği retrospektif olarak araştırılmıştır. Bulgular: 1999 yılına ait 4134 serum örneğinin % 1.76'sında HBsAg ve %0.50'sinde anti-HCV pozitifliği saptanırken,anti-HIV ve VDRL pozitifliği saptanmamıştır. 2000 yılına ait 4434 serum örneğinin %1.71 'inde HBsAg ve %0.24'ünde anti-HCV pozitifliği saptanırken, anti-HIV ve VDRL pozitifliği saptanmamıştır. 2001 yılına ait 4811 serum örneğinde HBsAg, anti-HCV ve VDRL pozitiflik oranları sırası ile %1.74, %0.24, %0.02 olarak saptanmış, anti-HIV pozitifliği saptanmamıştır. Sonuç: HBsAg ve anti-HCV seropozitiflikleri açısından yıllar arasında istatistiksel olarak önemli farklılıklar bulunmamıştır.
