Efficacy of flupeks®(Flumethrin 1%) against Bovicola bovis and linognathus vituli of calves

Abstract
Calves suffered from itching were examined in a dairy cow breeding in Bursa province and lice (Bovicola bovis) and louse (Linognathus vituli) mix infestation was detected. On the purpose of to determine the efficacy of flumethrin 1% pour-on solution, ten of calves were treated with flumethrin and ten calves were kept as untreated control. Flumethrin 1% pour-on was used at a dose of 1 ml/10 kg body weight (1 mg active ingredient / kg b.w.) along the back line of each animal. The treatment of flumethrin 1% pour-on provided a complete protective period of five weeks for lice and louse control on calves. The efficacy has started completely on the third day almost on all treated animals. The calves treated with flumethrin did not show any adverse reaction. According to obtained results, the applications of flumethrin 1% pour-on are completely effective and usage of it at 5 week intervals can provide a good lice and louse control on calves.
Özet
Bursa’daki bir sığırcılık işletmesindeki buzağılarda kaşıntı şikayeti neticesinde yapılan incelemede buzağıların Bovicola bovis ve Linognathus vituli bit türleriyle miks enfeste oldukları belirlenmiştir. Bitlerle enfeste buzağılarda %1’lik flumethrinin dökme çözeltisinin etkinliğini belirlemek amacıyla, her iki tür bitle miks enfeste 10 buzağıya ilaç uygulanmış, 10 buzağıya ise herhangi bir ilaç uygulanmayarak kontrol tutulmuştur. Flumethrinin %1’lik dökme çözeltisi, 1 ml/10 kg vücut ağırlığı (1 mg etken madde / kg vücut ağırlığı) hesabıyla, her hayvana sırt çizgisi boyunca dökülerek uygulanmıştır. Yapılan kontrollerde ilaç buzağılarda 5 hafta süreyle tam koruma sağlamıştır. İlacın etkisi, deneme grubundaki neredeyse tüm hayvanlarda 3. gün başlamıştır. Flumethrin uygulanan buzağılarda herhangi bir yan etki gözlenmemiştir. Çalışmada elde edilen sonuçlara göre, flumethrinin %1’lik dökme çözeltisi, tüy yiyen ve kan emen bitlere karşı tam etkilidir ve 5 hafta aralıklarla kullanılması buzağılarda iyi bir bit kontrolü sağlayabilmektedir.
