Effects of tiletamin-zolazepam anesthesia on clinical findings and blood gas parameters in Van cats

Abstract
In this study the anesthetic effect of the combination of tiletamin-zolazepam were investigated in 5 Van cats which were in different age (2-3 years), body weight (2.5-3 kg) and sex (3 female, 2 male).Cats injected with the combination of tiletamin- zolazepam (10 mg/kg) intramuscularly. Clinical findings, blood gas parameters were recorded before, during and 24 hour after anesthesia. The results showed that combination had an excellent effect of muscular relaxion and positive anesthetic condition. On the other hand, combination had a little effect on the blood gas parameters.Cats that injected with tiletamin-zolazepam had a mean value of 5.9 minutes induction period and 107 minutes surgical anesthetic duration. The behavioral differences were recorded during induction period, anesthesia and recovery. The anesthetic impact on the cats were also tested by some nociceptive stimulations. In this study results demonstrated that the combinations of tiletamin-zolazepam can be used in practice as anesthetics.
Özet
Bu çalışma Van Kedilerinde tileiamin-zolazepam kombinasyonunun aneştezik etkilerini araştırmak amacıyla değişik yaş, canlı ağırlık ve cinsiyette toplam 5 kedi üzerinde gerçekleştirildi. Kedilere tiletamin-zolazepam kombinasyonu 10 mg/kg dozunda im uygulandı. Anestezi öncesi, sırası ve anesteziden 24 saat sonra klinik bulgular kan gazı parametreleri ile ilgili sonuçlar belirlendi. Buna göre bu .kombinasyonun kan gazı parametrelerinde minimal etkiler meydana getirdiği, ayrıca mükemmel kas gevşemesi sağlayarak uygun aneştezik koşullar oluşturduğu tespit edildi.Olgularda ortalama 6.6 dk'da indüksiyon ve 107 dk'lık şirurjikal anestezi süresi sağlandı. İndüksiyon dönemi, anestezi sırası ve uyanma periyodunda saptanan değişiklikler kaydedildi. Ayrıca anestezi sırasında kedilere nosiseptif şümuller uygulanarak sağlanan anestezinin etkinliği ve süresi ortaya konuldu.Çalışmada kedilerde tiletamin-zolazepam kombinasyonunun pratikte uygulanabileceği ortaya konuldu.
