The role of a nurse in robotic assisted laparoscopic surgery

Abstract

The use of robotic surgical systems is increasing rapidly in the medical arena. The Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System is being used in urology, general surgery, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, gynecology, and in thoracic surgery throughout the world including Turkey. Robotic assisted laparoscopic surgery has several advantages and disadvantages for the patient, healthcare professionals and the institution. Nurses have important roles in the use of robotic surgery systems. Therefore, nurses must improve their knowledge and skills in this area.

Tıp alanında robotik cerrahi sistemlerinin kullanımı hızla artmaktadır. Türkiye’de ve dünyada Da Vinci robotu ile üroloji, genel cerrahi, kardiyovasküler cerrahi, nöroşirürji, ortopedik cerrahi, jinekoloji, göğüs cerrahisinde kullanılmaktadır. Robot yardımlı laparoskopik cerrahinin hasta, sağlık profesyonelleri ve hastane açısından olumlu ve olumsuz yönleri bulunmaktadır. Robotik cerrahi sistemlerinin kullanımı hemşirenin rolünü etkilemektedir. Bundan dolayı hemşireler kendilerini geliştirmelidir.
