Pictures of Christ’s Saving the Deads in European Painting

Abstract
Because of the fact of baptism, the emancipation and status of innocent or good people, especially the prophets who died before Christ, have been discussed in the Christian world from an early stage. This subject, which found its place in the apocryphal gospels, was started to be depicted with time. However, the subject Christ’s saving the dead was depicted in different approaches in the art of Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant European art. In the Orthodox art, certain patterns were applied. It has a rich appearance in European. Within the scope of this study, the artifacts of Christ’s saving the dead in the European painting will be examined. These works; the texts in which the subject is covered will be evaluated in the context of expressions and their influences in the periods they were produced.
Özet
Vaftiz olgusu nedeniyle İsa’dan önce ölen peygamberler başta olmak üzere masum ya da iyi insanların kurtuluşu ve durumları Hiritiyan dünyasında erken dönemlerden itibaren tartışılmıştır. Apokrif İncil’ler içerisinde kendine yer bulan bu konu zamanla resmedilmeye başlanmıştır. Ancak İsa’nın ölüleri kurtarması konusu Ortodoks, Katolik ve Protestan Avrupa resim sanatında farklı yaklaşımlar doğrultusunda betimlenmiştir. Ortodoks resim sanatı içinde belli kalıplar uygulanmıştır. Avrupa’da ise zengin bir görünüm arz etmektedir. Bu çalışma kapsamında Avrupa resim sanatında yer alan İsa’nın ölüleri kurtarması konulu eserler incelenecektir. Bu eserler; konunun yer aldığı metinler, üretildikleri dönemlerdeki ifade anlayışları ve bunlara etki eden unsurlar bağlamında değerlendirilecektir.
