Abstract

Objective: Hepatitis A virus (HAV) infection is a still major public health problem due to its treat to cause epidemic. Epidemic of HAV infection occurs with contaminated water and food or contamination from person to person. In this study, a hepatitis A outbreak occurring in Afyonkarahisar province Kocaoz town was examined. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire about the source of epidemic was applied to a total of 71 cases with a diagnosis of hepatitis A, between January-June 2013. Patients were diagnosed with clinical, HAV IgM, and liver tests. Results: As a result of this study, this epidemic was found to be an epidemic spreading with fecal-oral route and transition from person to person, caused by poor hygiene conditions. Conclusion: Like other developing countries, the hepatitis A cases are shifting to a more advanced age due to water systems and sanitation conditions have improved in our country and this brings the risk of more serious disease. Therefore, immunization is also important as well as to improve the environmental conditions for prevention from the disease and the addition of Hepatitis A vaccine to the childhood immunization program of our country is a good step taken in this regard.

Özet

Amaç: Hepatit A virüs (HAV) infeksiyonu, salgınlara yol açma tehdidi nedeniyle hala önemli bir halk sağlığı tehdididir.
