Abstract

Introduction: Scrotal calcinosis is a rare benign disease with the characteristic precipitation of calcium and phosphorous salts in the scrotal dermis Although it is disputed, idiopathic aetiology is widely affirmed in the literature. We aimed to report clinical properties of this rare entity through the cases operated in our clinic. Materials and Methods: In this report, clinical properties and pathological findings of 4 cases with scrotal calcinosis were presented. Results: Ages of 4 cases who were operated with the diagnosis of scrotal calcinosis were 50,23,56 and 25. The lesions were present for 35, 9, 25 and 5 years, respectively. 2 patients had undergone excision of the nodules. In 1 of 4 cases two-staged nodule excision could be possible due two extensive involvements. Conclusions: Nodules are usually present for a long time and some patients undergo multiple operations. Treatment is usually not curative because tiny nodules may enlarge in time. Pathological examination reveals calcification focus of variable sizes with a hyperplastic epithelium. Inflammatory cell infiltration is usually detected at the periphery.
