Spermatic cord liposarcoma: A case report

Abstract

Introduction: Malignant paratesticular tumors are uncommon. Of these, liposarcoma of the spermatic cord constitutes a rare tumor. Materials and Methods: A male patient with a mass in the left scrotum admitted to our department. The patient had the mass for 1.5 months. High orchiectomy was performed after radiological evaluation. The histopathological analysis of the surgical specimen showed that a well-differentiated liposarcoma of the spermatic cord. The surgical margin was clear. There was no recurrence 3 months after the surgery. Conclusion: Paratesticuler liposarcoma is a rare pathology. Even in the well-differentiated form, recurrence may develop in the long term period. Thus, these patients should be monitorized for long-term.

Paratestiküler liposarkom, spermatik kordondaki yağ dokudan kaynaklanan malin bir tümördür. Bu bölgedeki liposarkomlar sıklıkla iyi diferansiye tiptedir. Sol skrotal kitle sebebiyle tetkik edilen 42 yaşındaki erkek hastada, sol skrotumu dolduran, yağ dansitesi gösteren tümöral oluşum saptandı. Yüksek orşiektomi yapılan hastadaki kitlenin histopatolojik değerlendirme sonucunda iyi diferansiye liposarkom (İDL) olduğu tespit edildi. Cerrahi sınırları temiz olan ve retroperitonda başka bir kitlesi olmayan hasta takibe alındı. Nüks oranı yüksek olan bu tümörde uzun süreli takip önemlidir.
