Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the distribution of dicrocoeliasis on sheep and goats slaughtered in the municipal slaughterhouse in the region of Van. In the study, parasites collected from liver, bile ducts and gallbladder in2500 sheep and 675 goats after slaughtering were investigated. At the end of the study, it was found that the species responsible for the infection was Dicrocoelium dentriticum, and the infection rate in sheep was 46.16% and in goats 29.03%. Based on the findings the observed significant change depends on gender (male/female) and species (sheep and goat) in infected animals (Chi - square = 16.869 p <0.01). Infection rates in sheep were higher that goats. When examined on monthly basis the infection rate of sheep was highest in July (82.16%), and this rate in the goats was highest in August (38.46%). The number of the parasites which was destroyed and obtained from sheep and goats changed on an average rate of 650 to 1450.
