Determination of the Recreational Tendency and Demands of Vocational Students: Bulent Ecevit University, Çaycuma Campus

Abstract
The main aim of the study is to determine leisure time and recreational trends of vocational college students, levels of participation in existing recreational activities and recreational needs. Bülent Ecevit University Çaycuma Campus has implemented a total of 400 student questionnaires registered in 11 associate degree programs in spring semester 2017-2018. The students were selected by chance sampling method. In the evaluation of the questionnaires frequency, percentage and Anova tests were done through SPSS 22.0 program. According to the survey results, most of the students find that their existing recreation areas are inadequate. Students prefer physical activities as recreational activities and enjoy indoor or outdoor recreational activities. It provides the basic needs of students with limited opportunities and therefore has limited participation in some recreational activities that require excessive fees. Students prefer to shop as shopping malls and leisure time activities as a recreational activity in Çaycuma. As a result, suggestions have been developed in the context of being able to pass the leisure time of Çaycuma Yeleşkesi students better.
Özet
Çalışmanın ana amacı meslek yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin boş zaman ve rekreasyonel eğilimlerini, mevcut rekreasyonel etkinliklere iştirak seviyelerini ve rekreasyonel isteklerini saptamaktır. Bülent Ecevit Üniversitesi Çaycuma Yerleşkesi’nde 2017-2018 bahar döneminde 11 ön lisans programına kayıtlı toplam 400 öğrenciye anket uygulanmıştır. Öğrenciler tesadüfi örneklem yöntemiyle seçilmiştir. Anketlerin değerlendirilmesinde SPSS 22.0 programı aracılığı ile frekans, yüzde ve Anova testleri yapılmıştır. Anket sonuçlarına göre, öğrencilerin çoğu varolan rekreasyon meydanlarını yetersiz bulmaktadır. Öğrenciler rekreasyon etkinlik olarak bedensel etkinlikleri tercih etmekte olup gerek iç mekan gerekse dış mekan rekreasyonel etkinlikler yapmaktan hoşlanmaktadırlar. Öğrencilerin temel ihtiyaçlarını kısıtlı imkânlarla sağlamakta ve dolayısıyla fazla ücret gerektiren bazı rekreasyonel aktivitelere katılımlarının sınırlı olduğu saptanmıştır. Öğrenciler, Çaycuma kentinde rekreasyonel faaliyet olarak AVM’leri ve serbest zaman aktivitesi olarak da alışveriş yapmayı tercih etmektedir. Sonuçta, Çaycuma Yeleşkesi’ndeki öğrencilerin boş zamanlarını daha kaliteli geçirebilmeleri bağlamında öneriler geliştirilmiştir.
