Widely recognized as a foundational instrument of international arbitration, the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards is one of the most important and successful United Nations treaties in the area of international trade law. In order to promote wider adherence to the Convention and its uniform interpretation and effective implementation, the UNCITRAL secretariat developed a guide on the New York Convention which would mainly rely on case law interpretation.
