Globalization, Subaltern Publicity, and Tactics: the Case of Afyon District of Çavuşbaş

Küreselleşme, Madun Kamusallığı ve Taktikler: Afyon Çavuşbaş Mahallesi Örneği

Abstract

This study analyzes the forms of resistance of urban subaltern against globalization processes through the concept of “tactics” of Michel de Certeau. This district has established near Afyon Castle and has a quite old and traditional social demography and formation. Because of this peculiar characteristic of the district, influnces of globalization to the this district was tried to understand. We argue on the one hand that globalization had dominated the everyday life regime which is actually functioning and on the other that how does ordinary people develop the mechanmisms of defence against this domination and hegemony.

Özet

Bu çalışma Afyon Çavuşbaş Mahallesi örneğinde kentsel madunların küreselleşme sürecine karşı geliştirdikleri direniş biçimlerini Michel de Certeau’nun “taktik” kavramı aracılığıyla analiz etmektedir. Bu mahalle Afyon Kalesi’nin çevresinde kurulmuş, oldukça eski ve geleneksel bir toplumsal demografi ve formasyona sahiptir. Mahallenin bu özelliğinden ötürü küreselleşmenin bu mahalleye olan etkileri anlaşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Küreselleşmenin bu mahalledeki işleyiş halinde olan gündelik yaşam rejimini baskı altına aldığı iddia edilmekte ve bu baskı ve hegemonyaya karşı sıradan insanların nasıl bir savunma mekanizması inşa ettiği tartışılmaktadır.
