Unique ekstensor hallusis muscle infarct in diabetic patient

Abstract

Diabetic muscle infarct is a rare complication of type 1 insulin dependent diabetic patient, resenting with focal thigh pain, tenderness, swelling and erythema. These pathologic findings were observed in 72 years old male patient, 5 days after he was accepted to our clinic because of diabetic foot ulcer. The mass was thought that on abscess at first but unixue extensor hallucis muscle infarct was observed by surgical exploration.Necrosed muscle was excised and defect area was reconstructed with split thickness skin graft. We have presented a case of extensor hallucis longus muscle infarction in a diabetic patient first in the literature.

Özet

Bacakta lokal ağrı, hassasiyet ve şişlikle kendini gösteren diyabetik kas infarktı, tip 1 insuline bağımlı diyabetik hastalarda nadir görülen bir komplikasyondur. Bu bulgular kliniğimize diyabetik ülser nedeniyle yattıktan beş gün sonra 72 yaşındaki erkek hastamızda görüldü. Kitle önce bir abse odağı olarak düşünülmüşken cerrahi eksplorasyonda izole ekstensor hallusis longus kas infarktı olduğu gözlendi. Nekroze kas eksize edilerek defekt alan ince kalınlıkta cilt grefti ile kapatıldı. Bu yazıda literatürde ilk kez diyabetik hastada ekstensor hallusis longus kas infaktı olgusu sunulmuştur.
