Fatal hepatitis due to antituberculosis therapy administered with fenitoin

Abstract
A 57 years female, who has been under antiepileptic therapy for 30 years and whose liver function tests were found to be within normal limits, was recently diagnosed as tuberculosis pleurisy. A combination of 4 antituberculosis drugs administered to her, but at the 3rd day of the therapy fulminant hepatitis was developed and the case died at 4th day. We decided to present this hepatitis case, which ended with death in a short period and probably developed as a consequence of the administration of hepatotoxic drug combination.
Özet
Otuz yıldır antiepileptik tedavi (fenitoin) gören ve karaciğer fonksiyon testleri normal sınırlarda seyreden 57 yaşındaki kadın olguda tüberküloz plörezi saptandı. Dörtlü antitüberküloz tedavi başlanan ve tedavinin 3. gününde fulminan hepatit gelişen olgu 4. günde eksitus oldu. Hepatotoksik ilaçların birlikte kullanımına bağlı olarak geliştiğini düşündüğümüz ve kısa sürede eksitusla sonuçlanan bu hepatit olgusunu sunmayı uygun bulduk.
