Abstract

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is an important public health problem worldwide. It is estimated that 3% of the world population is chronically infected with HCV. Chronic HCV infection has been reported in association with several extrahepatic manifestations including recently recognized effects on the lung. These include primary effects on lung functions; secondary effects in settings of progressive liver disease and drug treatment for HCV.
