Abstract

During the excavations in Olba two Amphora stamps from Rhodes were found. These Amphora are significant because they are the first amphora stamps found in the center. On the first one can be read the name of ?????p?? who was ruler between BC c. 159/158-154/153 and 160-146. On the second, the name of Age as a diminutive has been stamped. The name, A??( belongs to manufacturer or ruler. The stamp dates to the Period VII (B.C85-Agustus period) based on the shape of the handle and stamp press. Since small number of stamped amphora handles it can't be concluded that Olba has a commercial ties with Rhodes. However these findings are significant enough that Olba, which is located in Eastern Rough Cilicia, away from the sea side, traded through Seleucia, Korykos and Elaiussa.

Özet

Olba'da gerçekleştirilen kazı çalışmalarında, Rhodos kökenli iki adet amphora mühürü bulunmuştur. Bu buluntular, merkezde ele geçen ilk amphora mühürleri olması bakımından önem taşımaktadırlar. İlk örnekte, MÖ 159/158-154/153 tarihleri arasında yöneticilik yapmış ?????p??'ın ismi okunmuştur. İkinci amphora mühüründe ise A??( kısaltması yer almaktadır.
