Abstract
Th e aim of this work is to discuss the distribution, typology, and functions of glass rods in the Roman world within the context of two examples in the Museum of Silifke’s collection. Th e other is recorded in the museum’s inventory as from a grave, possibly again in Seleucia ad Calycadnum. Th ese artifacts confirm the presence of glass rods in Rough Cilicia which also occur in both the Eastern and Western regions of the Roman Empire. Th e main objective of this study is to expand the discourse current literatüre about the functions of Roman glass rods by articulating alternative suggestions based on the present archaeological data and examples from the Museum of Silifke.
