THE POPULATION OF MEDINA IN THE QURAN

Abstract
The Quran submits extensive information with regard to Medina/Yathrib city where gave rise to notice of the last prophet. The verses involve information about the social structure of this place where was settled on the occasion of the hejira. In this study, it is aimed to make observations about the residents of the known campus based on the aforementioned information.The fore-most among the issues separating the population of Medina from the other inhabitants aforesaid in the Quran is the existence of a group called hypocrite amongst them. These negative characters are the subject of many verses and watched for an opportunity to leave the Muslims who gained strength right after the hejira, in a difficult situation. Almost all of the verses in which the city of Medina is mentioned by name, refer to them.The believers were the notable group with positive behaviors amongst the communities who lived in Medina. This group, praised by the Quran, was also criticized due to their some faults.There are many expressions about personalities, beliefs and livings of the Jew-ish in the Quran. The Jews, the ummah of previous prophets, are mentioned in Meccî suras. The information about the Jews who were the addressee of the Prophet Muhammad, is in Medanî suras.Another group mentioned in the ex-pressions about Medina is Christians. Some of the information given by the Quran about the Christianity is composed of the expressions related to Jesus, his mother and the apostles.The foundation of becoming brotherhood which the Prophet Muhammad put into effect after the hegira and its psychological, social, political and economical consequences arisen in favor of the Muslims in Medina will also be mentioned in this study which is about the people of Me-dina city which has the characteristics of being the first city where the state or-ganization actualized actually in Islamic history.
Özet
Kur’ân-ı Kerîm, son peygamberin tebliğine mahal olan Medine/Yesrib şeh-riyle ilgili geniş malumat sunmuştur. Âyetler, hicret vesilesiyle yurt edinilen bu mekânın toplumsal yapısına ilişkin bilgiler ihtiva etmektedirler. Bu çalışmada söz konusu bilgiler ekseninde malum şehrin sakinleriyle ilgili tespitlerde bulu-nulması hedeflenmektedir. Medine ahalisini, Kur’ân’da ismi geçen diğer belde halklarından ayıran hususların başında, içlerinde münafık olarak isimlendiri-len bir zümrenin bulunuyor olması gelmektedir. Hicretin akabinde güçlenen müminleri, zor durumda bırakmak için fırsat kollayan bu menfi karakterler, birçok âyete konu olmuşlardır. Medine şehrinin ismen zikredildiği âyetlerin tamamına yakını, onlardan bahsetmektedir. Medine’de yaşayan topluluklar içerisinde müspet davranışlarıyla göze çarpan zümre müminlerdir. Kur’ân’ın methine mazhar olan bu grup, bazı hatalarından dolayı da eleştirilmişlerdir. Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’de Yahudilerin karakterlerine, inançlarına ve yaşantılarına dair birçok anlatım yer almaktadır. Mekki surelerde daha önceki peygamberlerin ümmetleri olan Yahudiler, konu edilmiştir. Hz. Peygamberin, muhatabı olan Yahudilerle ilgili bilgiler, medenî sûrelerdedir. Medine ile ilgili anlatımlarda bahsi geçen diğer bir zümre de Hıristiyanlardır. Hıristiyanlığa dair Kur’ân’ın verdiği bilgilerin bir kısmı ise Hz. İsa, annesi ve havarilerle ilgili anlatımlardan müteşekkildir. İslam tarihinde devlet örgütlenmesinin fiili olarak hayata geçi-rildiği ilk şehir olma özelliğine sahip olan Medine şehrinin halkını konu alan bu çalışmada, ayrıca, Hz. Muhammed’in (s.a.v), hicreti müteakip yürürlüğe koyduğu kardeşleştirme müessesesinin Medine’de Müslümanlar lehine ortaya çıkan, psikolojik, sosyal, siyasi ve ekonomik neticelerine değinilecektir.
