RELIGION, RELIGIOUS SOCIUS AND SOCIOLOGY OF RELIGION IN TURKEY

Abstract

Sociology of religion deals with the social structure and functions of religion and the daily manifestations of religion. It is concerned with all dimensions of religion from individuals to society. In Turkey, works in sociology of religion has developed concurrently with the developments in general sociology. Given that traditional history of Turkey has been identified with religion, the studies have been also related to religion. On the other hand, the partly distant and prejudiced approach of the modern republic of Turkey towards religion have also been observed in scientific studies. This study deals with the related processes in their context and employs the related examples

Dinin toplumsal yapı ve işlevleri, gündelik hayattaki tezahürleri Din Sosyolojisinin ilgi alanları arasında yer almaktadır. Din Sosyolojisi, dini bireyden topluma taşınan tüm boyutlarıyla birlikte ele almaktadır. Türkiye'de Din Sosyolojisi çalışmaları genel Sosyolojinin tarihiyle aynı süreçte ilerlemiştir. Türkiye'nin geleneksel tarihinin dinle özdeşik yapısı topluma yönelik olarak ele alınan çalışmaları kaçınılmaz bir şekilde dinle ilişkiye zorlamıştır. Bununla birlikte modern Cumhuriyet'in din konusundaki yer yer mesafeli yer yer de önyargılı sayılabilecek tavrı akademik araştırmalarda da bir tür tutukluğun öne çıkmasına yol açmıştır. Bu makale söz konusu süreçleri değişik bağlamları içindeki örnekleri üzerinden ele alma çabası içindedir
