Abstract

Thymolipoma is a rarely seen lesion of the anterior mediastinum and constitutes 2-9% of all thymic tumors. A 45 year old female patient was admitted to our clinic with a complaint of shortness of breath. A mass lesion with a fatty tissue density, pervading almost the entire left hemithorax extending anteriorly to the right mediastinum, was observed on the computed tomography of thorax. The mass was totally excised with a left thoracotomy. The pathologic examination was reported as thymolipoma. Thymolipoma may rarely reach a giant size and confronted with the shortness of breath. Definitive diagnosis and treatment are possible with surgical excision
